Ketubah Calcutta- In her strive to find a ketubah that will remind the wedded couple that this document is based on tradition Dorit Jordan Dotan was inspired by a Ketubah originating from Calcutta when she illustrated the splendorous art piece. The bright colored Ketubah is a wonderful expression of an ancient Indian Ketubah from the early 1920’s. In addition to the traditional fish which in Jewish folklore is thought to be immune to the evil eye this ketubah is adorned with birds, animals and opulence symbols from a once thriving Jewish community of India. A Menorah and a Star of David crown the pencil colored Ketubah while texts traditional for Indian Ketubot are written on both sides. Dorit adds hand painted gilding and the Ketubah is signed by the artist after printing. Please send us all details as to what kind of text you‘d like to have, date, and names.
